We were delighted to be included in this month’s edition of Country Living Magazine in the “8 of the Best Sustainable Restaurants” alongside Huntsham Court – “a dog friendly home with sustainability at its heart” and “the perfect country wedding venue”.
Sustainability is the watchword for businesses and restaurants today with the focus on sourcing locally produced eco friendly produce. In an age where supermarkets rule the consumer market, the importance of supporting local farmers, fishermen, dairies and breweries is key to doing our bit to help the environment and keep it local. By using seasonal local produce, we cut down on road and air miles meaning food arrives in the restaurant sooner and is therefore much fresher. Seasonal food reduces the need for harsh chemicals and unnecessary pesticides sometimes needed to grow out of season crops and by supporting eco friendly farms, the restaurant therefore becomes more eco friendly as a result.
Even small changes can help to do our bit to help the environment – Sustainability and Restaurants need to go hand and hand. We are delighted to work with local suppliers in our area and will continue to support them whenever we can – the freshest fruit and veg, the freshest fish and meat and even wine and sparkling wine produced at a local Devon vineyard!
